- Vanity Rock Band play for Rob & Verity's wedding at Scorrier House, Feb 2012
Vanity were delighted to have been invited to play for Rob and Verity at their wedding in Scorrier House in Cornwall last weekend, and they did not disappoint! We learnt the first dance just for them, and Dancing In The Dark will now forever remind us of the stunning couple. A huge thanks to both of them for their kind words too:"Thank you so much for doing a perfect job at our wedding. It went so well and Vanity really made the evening for us. Thank you especially for our first dance, it was exactly as we imagined it!
"We were really lucky to get you as a wedding band when we did because everyone agreed with me after when we said you soon be playing bigger and bigger venues, you are four incredibly talented people and we felt honoured to have you at our wedding, we will always remember it.
Thank you again,
Rob and Verity"

- Vanity gig at the Swan pub, Barbican, Plymouth
We love gigging in new venues, and Vanity are gathering increasing interest from a variety of new pubs and venues in Plymouth, so "GEDDON" (Best said in broad Plymouth accent)! Our man Leroy from The Swan pub (Barbican, Plymouth) got in touch yesterday, and we're really pleased to have secured our first gig at his pub next Friday (25th November 2011). It's a small venue, but by jove, we'll get you all dancing if it kills us!
So expect a somewhat sweaty band that night kids, as we'll be playing our backsides off to make sure you have a great time ;)

We're delighted to welcome (Paul) China to Vanity! China will be joining us as our new bass player as of our next gig at the Strand Hotel in Bude.China's an AWESOME bass player, and is as great on double bass in his Jazz duet with his wife as he is rocking out on stage! We're really excited about gigging with Paul, and hope you enjoy his stage antics as much as the rest of us ;)

We're ecstatic to have another 2 weddings confirmed for 2012 in the last week. Vanity love to entertain, see people having a good time and filling the dancefloor, and there is nothing more flattering than to be invited to help make someone's big day as perfect as we possibly can.We are indeed honored, and very excited!

- Vanity Rock The Seven Stars in Winkleigh
Vanity had a brilliant time on Saturday night at The Seven Stars in Winkleigh! We've heard good things about Winkliegh by the BBC, and would add that not only is it a great place, but the people definitely know how to party their ruddy socks off!
A huge thanks to Karen and Mark for hosting such a great night, and thanks also to everyone who came, partied, and shouted 'MORE' at the end :)
We'll be back...

- Bands in Plymouth
Vanity are ecstatic to have joined the rat-race with all the other bands in Plymouth this weekend, having had an absolutely stonking gig at the Mutley Junction on Saturday night! The Junction, situated on Mutley Plain in Plymouth's 'student zone' has recently changed management, and the new manager Kris is set on bringing back live music once more. We loved the venue and the people in it, and can't wait to perform there again in the near future!
Vanity are available for gigs in Plymouth, Exeter and surrounding areas. Please contact us for enquiries!

- Bands for... parties in Exmouth Pavillions
Vanity have had another confirmation through this weekend for a party in Exmouth Pavillions in 2012.
It's a private function I'm afraid, so we can't invite you, but we're really looking forward to playing in such a lovely venue!
We are of course available for private parties and functions anywhere in Devon and surrounding areas. If you need a band for a party, please feel free to drop us a line and we'll come up with something to suit your budget :)

- Bands for... The Junction in Mutley Plain, Plymouth
The yomp paid off! We have our very first gig in Plymouth at The Junction, Mutley Plain, this Saturday!
A huge thanks to the band that pulled out at the last minute. A pat on the back to us, for popping up at just the right moment, and a big thanks to Jess at Scene And Heard for giving us a shot...
Supporting us will be Hi-Fidelity - a young band who've only just gigged a couple of times but we hear that the guitar player is one to look out for..
Bring your dancing shoes and make sure you carb-load before you come out, as drinks will be a-flowing ;)

- Bands for... gigs in Plymouth & Exeter
We've been very lucky with our gigs so far, and thanks to some incredibly kind recommendations (thank you, kind people!) we've been gigging regularly over the summer period.
We've now decided to pull our fingers out a little and get advertising, and so just yesterday I went for a yomp around Plymouth City Centre and went into bar after bar handing out demo disks and business cards.
We'll also be hitting Exeter and Exmouth in much the same fashion! So very soon, fingers crossed, you'll be seeing much more of our gigs in South Devon...
*Crosses all fingers and toes*

- Bands for... Xmas parties
I'm always amazed when I see Christmas decorations on sale in August, but that's actually nothing when you consider that people book bands for xmas parties almost an entire year in advance.
Vanity only got together a few months ago so we've most likely missed the boat for 2011. In case of those few who realise at the 11th hour they're still somewhat without a band for their xmas party, however, I guess the Vanity mob had better be prepared! "Dib Dib Rubadub Blah Be Prepared", as the Brownie-Scout-Guides say!
What to learn!? I'm thinking 'Fairytail of New York' would suit us down to the ground. I'm also tempted to suggest a rocked up version of 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.
Any suggestions?

- Bands for... rock, pop & soul covers
A HUUUUGE thanks to Doc at the Plymouth Music Collective for providing your technical talents for our demo tracks! Doc came highly recommended to us, and we weren't let down. We're now the proud owners of some mighty fine demo tracks of Proud Mary, Rebel Yell, Sex On Fire, Rolling In The Deep and Price Tag.
Enjoy them, share them, splash them on Facebook, book us for your parties!

- Bands for... New Years Eve Parties
To gig or not to gig on New Years Eve...?! On a personal level, I'm entirely torn over the idea. My partner is a member of one of Devon's favorite party bands - Joey The Lips - and let's face, it would be rather nice to prop up the bar for the night with the other 'WAGS'.
On the flip side, I LOVE gigging (as do the rest of the Vanity mob) and the high of getting everyone partying their socks off on the dance floor as the clock strikes midnight is undeniably appealing!
...Oh sod it. Anyone need a band for New Years Eve?! Give us a shout if you do!

- Bands for... North Devon
We had an absolutely awesome gig at the London Inn in Braunton (North Devon) two weeks ago, and I just wanted to say a huge thanks to the rock lovers for all the lovely comments - we were very touched and can't wait to get back there for MORE MORE MORE....Xx Vanity xX
- Bands for... studio session
Sorry we've been a bit quiet of late, folks. We've not disappeared though, we've been having some studio time!
I frickin' love studio time!
So the demo tracks will be ready in the next few days (at long last) and will include the likes of Proud Mary, Rebel Yell, Sex On Fire, Price Tag and Rolling In The Deep.
Most excited...

- Bands for... weddings in Exeter, Devon
It's no secret that this part of the world is riddled with talent, and there are some really GREAT wedding bands in Devon and Cornwall. So you can imagine how stoked we are to have only been going a little while, and to already have booked two weddings in Exeter (Devon) with our very first wedding gig this Friday!
The pressure is on for us to really please the punters and get the audience dancing. In particuar, I'm striving to hear more of those encores at the end of the night. As our man Billy (not Eric. Not a word please Shaz) once said, we want 'MORE MORE MORE!'.
We're in the thick of the wedding season here in Devon, and it's incredibly exciting to be a part of such a poignant time for these couples. Deep inside my little head, I'd like to think that when one day they hear a song from our set list, nostaligia will remind them of how stunning their day was.
If you have a wedding coming up and need a band - be it in Exeter or anywhere in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, or Somerset - please do get in touch! The answer is yes, we'd love to :)

- Girl fronted rock bands in Devon
Vanity is just one of the various GIRL-FRONTED rock bands in Devon, and we are loving it! We've been getting some amazing feedback and are feeling quite humbled by the number of weddings we've been asked to play at in 2012!
We were lucky enough to make friends with the talented Vicious Kittens a few weeks ago, who've been absolutely NAILING the whole girl-fronted rock band thang around the Plymouth area for a few years now, and are definitely worth a watch! It might seem a bit strange me talking about them in the context of Vanity but, quite frankly, we really hate competition! There's plenty of gigs, and plenty of love, for us all. If more bands worked to support each other rather than compete then the music world would be a better place!
Here's to Vicious Kitten, and to all the budding girl-fronted rock bands in Devon, Plymouth, Exeter - or whereever you may be. In fact, please say hi if you read this! We'd love to meet all you gorgeous and like minded ladies out there..

- Bands for... charideeee
We were really touched to have received a sweet thank you card from the organisers of the Boasley Cross School evening fundraiser we played at a couple of weeks ago! Thanks guys, ANY time. I feel the need to send you a thank you card for thanking us...

- Bands for... flashers, apparently!
Well the hen party dressed as builders enjoyed it.. the birthday party dressed as school girls enjoyed it.. and I'm pretty sure the chap who revealed his hairy cheeks to us enjoyed it too - although I'm still not sure which way to look!We started off with some slower paced numbers in order to keep the volume down for those still dining in the restaurant during the first set, but after the break we picked up the pace and got people dancing to tracks like Proud Mary, Do You Love Me, Poker Face, I Love Rock & Roll, American Idiot and more! Needless to say, we had a great time, and we're itching to get back to the Strand Hotel in Bude again next Saturday night (30th July) for more of the same, albeit with a little less of the flashing ;)
